Finished Tyranid color

I have finally decided upon a color scheme for my bugs. 

It took me a while. Below is the progression of ideas I had before arriving at this one. 

I think I'll be doing the weapons in the same color as the brain of the Zoe. 

Sons of Fenris -Review

I'm not reviewing the entire omnibus, but rather the second book in the ominibus. Let me just say that the first Omnibus by Willam King and all of the Gotrek and Felix novels are excellent. 

What I would like to do is bring paticular attention to the 5th book of the Space Wolf series by Lee Lightner (a Penn name for 2 authors in Baltimore). I love William King so much I was apprehensive about this book, thinking that there was no way it could be as good as William Kings' other novels. I was wrong! I'm going to keep this short and spoiler free, but let me just say that the book is  FULL of fan service and awesome space wolf moments. For me, this is the "Empire strikes back" of space wolf books. Though it is but a piece of the complete Space Wolf series, this one book was truly epic. It truly inspires me to paint and play space wolves. Now if Games Workshop would only come out with a Ragnar miniature that is as good as Adrian Smith's cover paintings, we would be in business.

So do not let the thought of another author(s) writing space wolves keep you from reading this one. It is well worth it!

Over all the army performed well. It was made specifically to fight marines, going to tweak it a little for an all comer list. Going to replace Canis with a Mounted Wolf lord. Although I love the lone wolf, I think I'll get rid of him. He is too slow & never dies, so it always bites me in annihilation.

So this makes 4 completed TW cav paint jobs. I have 8 more to go for my army that includes 3 units of 4.

Red & White for my TW cav pack markings.

Next up, Iron Priest. I was originally going to mount my TW cav on these guys but decided it fit more for the Iron priest only. That and it would have put me in the poor house.

Thunderwolf Cav & Tyranid test mini

One down, lots to go! This photo is cracking me up. The thunderwolf looks like it has a giant grin on his face. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with how the "heroclix" thunderwolf came out. I decided to give these guys lava bases to give me something to do on those big 60mm bases. The wolf itself was painted with the same scheme as my fenrisian wolves.

Here's my first stab at a new tyranid color scheme (that isn't blue and purple). Need to paint an actual Tyranid so I can get the full scheme with a black& red highlighted carapace.

Yeah, I'm getting sucked into the Tyranid new model fever. I can't help it. They look awesome. Trying to come up with a new color scheme. I have a ton of old genestealer models painted Purple/Blue like the pic above. 

I'm thinking something like this:
